The central staircase of the house acts as a revolving hub, seamlessly connecting various functions to fulfill the client's need for a flexible circulation plan. Each space can be accessed in a unique manner, enhancing the versatility of the layout.

Voids and expansive windows contribute to the permeability of the spaces, allowing ample daylight to flood into the home and creating a sense of openness.

Outside, the champagne-colored window profiles and concrete bricks find their reflection indoors, ensuring a seamless color and material palette. The pale concrete flooring harmonizes effortlessly with both the bricks and the anodized interior joinery, creating a harmonious aesthetic throughout.

STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN:

We constructed a CLT (cross laminated timber) house on the historic castle hill (burchtheuvel) of Grimbergen. The varying heights of the landscape provide unique views, while the slope of the land enabled us to seamlessly integrate the carport and lower ground spaces into the hill without compromising on natural light.

Despite maintaining a compact design, elevated by a solid wood construction, the house meets BEN-norm standards. The structural design facilitates the installation of expansive windows, strategically placed where inlets and protrusions puncture through the compact volume of the building.
