Sylvie Bruyninckx

Sylvie Bruyninckx (°1972) studied at the University College for Sciences and Arts, Sint-Lucas Architecture in Brussels and graduated with a Master's degree in 1997. Her professional career started at Mecanoo Architecten, were she became a project architect for several major projects. Four years later she continued her international career at the London based office of Erick van Egeraat Associated Architects. In 2003 she returned to Belgium to work for Conix Architects, where she became partner and shareholder in 2005. In 2012 she founded VIVA Architecture.

On selected occasions Sylvie is a jury member for architectural competitions and public awards. She is an invited critic in several architectural schools, gives lectures about her passion for the profession or gets her ideas on lifestyle and contemporary architecture published. As a founding member, she co-organized 'Nacht van de Architectuur'. From 2011 to 2017 she was president of the Professional Association for Architects (BVA). Currently she is vice-president of the BVA, member of the board at ICASD (A+) and alternate council member of the International Union of Architects (UIA).
